About this event
Getting outside for a chat is great for our mental wellbeing. The purpose of this get together is to simply connect with other humans.
This walk takes us past the Dashwood Mausoleum and the Hellfire Caves.
We start from West Wycombe Garden Centre carpark at 10:30am, we'll walk up through the woods, past the Mausoleum, down past the Hellfire Caves and back to the Garden Centre where we started. The hill climb up into the woods is moderate and some may feel out of breath walking and talking but there's no rush and we can go at your pace. This naturally may be slippery due to mud, chalk & tree roots, puddles and grassy fields.
Car park charge starts from £2.50 for 2 hours, or free if you're eating / having tea at the Garden Centre after.
The walk takes around 1hr 10mins / 1hr 15mins at a relaxed walking pace. We finish back at the Garden Centre where you can have a cup of tea if you choose. Getting back at around 11:45 is good timing to get in before the lunchtime rush.
You can find this circular walk by using the OS Maps app and typing in 'Chiltern Society West Wycombe Woodland Walk'. It is marked as 'moderate' in difficulty.
Since the weather can be unpredictable, bring whatever you need to stay comfortable. Taking phone, water and cash is advisable. Toilets and refreshments are available at The Hellfire Caves and the garden centre.
Please remember to book in via Eventbrite so I know to expect you - if noone books in, I won't be there.
We will meet by the cash machines in the garden centre carpark. We will be leaving at 10:30am so please aim to get there a couple of minutes before if you need time to pay / use the toilet facilities.
Dogs on leads are more than welcome, do bear in mind there may be other dogs present, so use your judgement on what’s best for your dog. I don't know if the garden centre cafe allows dogs. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
I'm looking forward to seeing you there!
