About this event

Arts • Fine Art

Tomasko’s latest exhibition at Millennium Gallery sees a new series of artworks created for the exhibition, inspired by paintings and sculpture previously displayed in the Graves Gallery. Hear about the process of selecting images from Sheffield Museums visual art collection as sources of inspiration and the creation of the original new pieces in response.

The conversation will be led by Omar Kholeif, Professor of Global Art Theory and Practice at the Glasgow School of Art and Programme Leader in the Master of Letters in Curatorial Practice at the University of Glasgow. They are also a distinguished visiting research professor at the MIMA Research Unit, Teesside University, as well as founding director of the not-for-profit cultural agency, [www.artpost21.com]artPost21, and series editor of the book anthology, imagine/otherwise published by Sternberg and the MIT Press on female worlding. Their latest book in this corpus narrates a hybrid memoir-biography cleaving their own life to that of the Lebanese-French-American painter, Huguette Caland. It is a journey that unfolds across a span of 18 years. They recently included Liliane Tomasko's art in their widely acclaimed group exhibition, "Finding My Blue Sky".

This event is part of the programme of events complementing Liliane Tomasko: The Psyche of the Portrait exhibition at Millennium Gallery until 12 October 2025.
