Event description

Description

Earlier this year we appointed Jane Hoskins, HR/Organisational development consultant at JH Consulting, to the role of Chair of our Board of Govenors.

Jane is very keen to hear from those of us working within the University and would (in collaboration with the Academic and Support Staff Association) like to invite you to a short presentation on the role of the Governors, and her thoughts on the future direction of the University and the HE sector. This will include a short session during which she asks questions of the audience.

Schedule:

12:00 Presentation by Jane Hoskins, HR/Organisational development consultant at JH Consulting and Chair of the University Board of Governors
12:20 Q&A Session (including Jane asking questions of the audience)
12:40 Opportunity to chat with Jane and other University colleagues over a light lunch
13:00 Close

What does the Board do?

The Board of Governors is the Governing Body of the University and carries responsibility for ensuring the effective Management of the Institution and for planning its future development. It is the Board that has ultimate responsibility for all the affairs of the Institution.

About our new Chair:

Jane has over thirty years' experience in human resources, mainly in the public sector, with experience in councils, the police force and a national organisation representing the interests of all local government. She has worked at director level for the last eight years, contributing to the strategic management of national organisations and dealing with a wide range of organisational issues.

Should you have any questions for Jane, please direct these through to becky.miles@port.ac.uk

Please keep in mind that Jane isn't involved in the day-to-day running of the University so won't necessarily be able to answer operational questions.
