Description

Meet the Expert sessions allow pupils to find out more about a range of STEM related jobs and careers available in Scotland. Each session will include an expert who will demonstrate their job, talk about their career path and involve the pupils in a hands-on activity relating to their industry. Pupils will also meet with Careers Advisers from Skills Development Scotland and find out about the different routes in to a range of careers in science and technology.  

Timings

Pupils take part in a 90 minute session which includes an introduction, 30 minutes with experts, 30 minutes with Career Advisers, and a chance for questions/discussion at the end. Pupils will be split into two groups of 15 to take part in the sessions.

Each day, two sessions will run as follows:

10:30-12:00 - Up to 30 pupils

12:30-14:00 - Up to 30 pupils

The experts and topics are as follows:

3 Nov - Biotechnology with Kirsty Black of Marine Biopolymers (Aimed at S4-S6 pupils)

1 Dec – Particle Physics with Luigi del Debbio and University of Edinburgh (Aimed at S4-S6 pupils)

 2 Feb – Video Game Development with Chris van der Kuyl, 4J Studios (Aimed at S1-S3 pupils)

4 May – Forth Crossing Engineers (Aimed at S1-3 pupils)

1 June - Renewable Energy (Tidal Engineering) with Nova Innovation

How to book

Bookings open on the 17 August 2016. Click on 'Select a date' to choose which session you'd like to attend. Then click on the green Register button at the top right hand side of the screen to complete your booking.
