Islington Council has a vision that all residents feel welcomed, included and connected to the borough regardless of how long they have called Islington home. We are an accredited Borough of Sanctuary and as part of this the council is launching a new Borough of Sanctuary grants programme in January 2025, funding projects which support refugees, migrants and people seeking asylum with integration and connection. This is a participatory grant scheme giving a panel of 18 people with experience of seeking sanctuary in Islington the opportunity to work with us and decide how a £500,000 funding pot is spent.

Please join us in person to find out more about the grants programme, eligibility and criteria. You will hear from panel members about what integration and connection means to them and have the opportunity to ask questions about the programme.

These grants are open to small groups (constituted or unincorporated organisations). This could include volunteer committees, tenant and resident associations, street associations, gardening groups and ‘Friends of’ groups.
Individuals or groups of people who are not part of a formal organisation can also apply if they have an idea for a project and a registered charity applies on their behalf.
Grants of £1000 to £3000 are available.
