Description

Meet the Big Lottery Fund (BLF)

As a major funder The Big Lottery offers a wide range of funding opportunities. Lara Rufus, Funding & Relationship Manager (East London) at the Big Lottery Fund, will explain the Big Lottery Fund Strategic Framework 2015 / 21 and their vision “People in the Lead”. You will learn about the implications of these for your application to this fund.

Lara will be offering short one-to-one meetings to give you the opportunity to discuss your application ideas. There will be a limited number of one-to-one meetings allocated on a first come, first served basis, bookable on arrival at event.

Alongside the one-to-one meetings CWF staff, Chris and Mariana, will be running two skills workshops :

  • Needs workshop: To support groups to identify real issues, needs, ideas and opportunities coming from their local beneficiaries and communities, and be able to clearly articulate that.
  • Funding skills workshop: Focussing on enabling you to assess the interests and practice of a funder to ensure that you maximise the chances of a successful application.

Description

The Big Lottery Fund is a major funder dispersing funding gained from the National Lottery through its ongoing Awards for All and Reaching Communities programs and other one-off funds:

  • Awards for All is the small sums scheme providing grants up to £10,000 for projects lasting up to one year. This fund is designed for smaller and newer organisations
  • Reaching Communities provides grants up to £500,000 for projects lasting up to five years. This fund is more appropriate for larger and more established organisations.

The Big Lottery is in the second year of its 2015 / 2021 Strategic Framework. This new strategy continues to be implemented and this year the BLF simplified its application form and guidance for Awards for All and Reaching Communities.

In this event Lara Rufus will explain the implications of the People in the Lead vision for potential applicants. She will explain changes in the Big Lottery Fund’s approach to funding, what the BLF are looking for in applications, and the support the BLF offers.
