Wed 11 November 2015, 19:00 – 21:00 GMT
Meet the Maker is back! A relaxed fun night of insights, inspirations and imagination getting to know the makers behind the brilliant jewellery scene in Scotland. This month we have talks from two jewellers and silversmiths; Hamish Dobbie and Karen-Ann Dicken. Hamish studied at The Glasgow School of Art where he graduated with a BA (Hons) in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design in 2013. Since then he has exhibited international as well as across the UK. He uses a mixture of digital and hand skills to create his work.
Karen-Ann is a jewellery designer based in Glasgow. She will be talking at Vanilla inks ‘Meet the Maker event about her designs and exhibitions. Karen specialises in modern technologies, CAD and laser welding. She Graduated from the Glasgow school of Art in 2005 and The Royal College of Art in 2007 and has won awards for the uses of technology in her designs and has exhibited nationwide. Karen also runs an annual exhibition and symposium called ‘Handmade by Machines’ looking at the use of CAD in the jewellery making process.
Hosted by the fabulous MAKLab in their event space, this autumnal Meet the Maker will be warmed with a glass of mulled cider and autumnal treats.
