At Rarity, we love to showcase the best of what Scotland has to offer. We are excited to announce a tasting experience featuring Lind and Lime Gin on Friday, 1st August.
Lind and Lime Gin is a unique gin brand founded by friends Paddy Fletcher and Ian Stirling, who are also behind the Port of Leith Distillery. Based in Leith, Edinburgh, both brands pay homage to the area's rich history in distilling and wine importation, as well as its notable naval heritage.
Lind & Lime Gin is named after James Lind, an 18th-century Scottish naval surgeon renowned for his groundbreaking research on scurvy, a disease that frequently affected sailors due to a lack of vitamin C. Lind's significant contributions, particularly his clinical trials conducted aboard the HMS Salisbury, highlighted the efficacy of citrus fruits, especially limes, in preventing and treating scurvy. The name also reflects the provisions of limes, from this discovery, into the rations of the navy - which are one of the main botanicals within the gin.
This expertly distilled gin features an intriguing blend of 7 botanicals, including juniper, fresh lime, and pink peppercorns. The result is a smooth, zesty spirit that balances citrus brightness with a spicy warmth, making it equally enjoyable on its own or as a key ingredient in a cocktail. Lind and Lime Gin has quickly gained a reputation for its unique flavor profile and has become a favorite among gin enthusiasts.
The recipe took 18 months to perfect and was recognized by winning multiple international awards for the gin’s superior quality, including Gold from the Spirits Masters in the UK, Gold from Craft Spirits Berlin, Gold from The Bartenders Spirits Awards in the USA, a Masters medal from the 2023 Spirits Business Awards, and selection for the ‘Best of the Best’ 2023 Robb Report.
