We’re thrilled to welcome Ninefold Distillery to Rarity Bottle Shop for a special Meet the Maker event—an exciting opportunity to sample handcrafted Scottish rum and meet the maker himself, Kit Carruthers, founder and distiller at Ninefold.
Tucked away in the rolling hills of Dumfries & Galloway, Ninefold is Scotland’s only dedicated rum distillery, producing small-batch, premium pot-distilled rum with a strong focus on quality, transparency, and local provenance. Founded in 2019, the distillery is based on the family farm—Dormont Estate—where Kit Carruthers set out to do something different: to make world-class rum in a country better known for whisky, and to do it with passion, integrity, and a distinctly Scottish character.
Using only sugarcane molasses, water, yeast, and time, Ninefold’s rum is made without additives, colouring, or shortcuts. The result? A clean, rich, and flavourful unaged white rum that forms the base for a growing range of exciting cask-aged and experimental expressions.
As one of the UK’s most exciting new rum producers, Ninefold has earned a loyal following among bartenders, rum lovers, and spirits enthusiasts alike for its bold flavours and honest approach to craft distilling.
During the event, you’ll have the chance to:
- Sample a selection of Ninefold’s spirits, including their signature pure single rum and cask-aged expressions
- Chat with Kit Carruthers and hear firsthand about the journey of building a rum distillery in rural Scotland
- Learn more about the rum-making process, pot distillation, and what makes Ninefold’s spirits so unique
