Living Seas: Safeguarding Scotland’s Marine Treasures
"Around half the UK's wildlife lives in the sea – from microscopic plankton to mighty whales. But our seas are under pressure from all sides."
Living Seas
For this month's Meet the Scientist and as part of our National Careers week activity, we are delighted to be joined by Scottish Wildlife Trusts, Living Seas Manager, Sam Collin.
Sam's work focuses on marine planning and policy in Scotland. In this talk he'll highlight some of the challenges facing Scotland's marine habitats, how the Living Seas team are addressing these issues and what their vision is for the future of our seas.
Before joining the Trust, Sam studied in both the UK and Canada where he focused on designing early detection and monitoring techniques for marine non-native species. On moving to Scotland, Sam spent a year working in Shetland developing the Shetland Islands Marine Biosecurity Plan before moving to the Trust in 2015.
This is a 1 hour session, with a 45 minute presentation and a Q&A session.
This event is FREE, but numbers are limited.
Please register to attend and please consider making a donation to support our vital conservation and education work or signing up to becoming a friend of the Scottish Seabird Centre.

All our education and conservation activities are designed to motivate people to make positive changes in their own lives to protect the marine environment now and in the future. Your support will help ensure we can continue to do that in the years to come.
A Zoom link for the event will be shared via email the day before the event and we will be hosting a live Q&A with Sam after the talk.
Full joining instructions and information about the event will be provided with the meeting invitation.
