A group for anyone engaged in researching death and popular culture
About this event
This group is for anyone engaged in researching death and popular culture, hosted by Ruth Penfold-Mounce and Bethan Michael-Fox.
June 2022 Questions! For the June meeting we are thinking about:
What does Popular Culture mean to you? (Question posed by Mattia)
To what extent are the bodies of the dead/dead bodies taboo? (Question posed by Fran)
You might be researching death in/and film, television, graphic novels, podcasting, video games, or anything else that falls into the realm of popular (or unpopular) culture, or researching popular culture and death more broadly. All researchers are welcome regardless of status, stage or discipline.
In the group meetings we will introduce ourselves and discuss our research interests, have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss processes and experiences of researching death and popular culture, and share news of conferences and calls for papers.
The meetings will be friendly and informal. If you want to ask any questions before signing up please email bethmichaelfox@gmail.com
The group will meet every four to six weeks. Please feel welcome to bring your own tea, coffee and cake etc. and we look forward to seeing you there! To find out more about the hosts check out the links below.
