Description

The invisible million – the hidden problem of people ageing without children

There are already 1 million people over 65 without adult children in the UK and that is set to double to 2 million by 2030. With 92% of informal care being provided by family, primarily spouses/partners and adult children and the cuts to social care meaning fewer older people are getting help than ever before, the issue of how people ageing without children can be supported needs to be urgently explored.

Ageing without Children (AWOC) in partnership with Age UK London is holding a meeting on 29th June at 2pm at Age UK London’s offices in Tavis House to explore

  • What are the issues facing people ageing without children?
  • How can local Age UKs respond to this challenge?
  • What support could AWOC provide?
