In this Level 2 training course, we will help you to get to the heart of the condition, and will share with you many ways to apply positive behaviour management. At the same time, you’ll learn how PDA affects learning and come away with practical and meaningful ways to have a calmer learning space.

PDA Level 2 Evening Class running over 3 evenings: 7.30pm – 9.00pm

* Tuesday 13 January 2026

* Tuesday 20 January 2026

* Tuesday 27 January 2026

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is part of the complex Autistic Spectrum Conditions, one that is not recognised by certain healthcare professionals (for EHCP purposes).

People with PDA need a very different approach to the usual which is successfully adopted with autistic individuals.

So if you need help to support behaviours such as individuals who:

**appear sociable, but lack depth in understanding

**have excessive mood swings and impulsivity

**display obsessive behaviour, often focussed on people, either loving or loathing them

…… or very demand avoidant (refusing, upset, outbursts), this training is FOR YOU!

This Level 2 accredited evening class has four learning points:

  • Know what is meant by Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
  • Understand how PDA impacts on individuals across age groups
  • Understand how to apply positive behaviour management when engaging with individuals with PDA
  • Know strategies to reduce the effect that PDA has on learning in the classroom

Your tutor is Karen Ferguson (BSc (Hons), PGCE, MEd) who for many years has been a Specialist Leader in Education for Autism. Karen has a multitude of scenarios and strategies to share with you, and which will help you to learn more to complete your accreditation.

This fully accredited training course is suitable for all teaching staff, classroom assistants, LSAs, TAs and adults within other settings.

We’re running this Level 2 course on Zoom over 3 evenings, and will include a combination of directed learning, participative activities and Q&A sessions. You’ll also need to complete a workbook for marking, to achieve your Level 2 accreditation.

We’ll provide you with lots of resources to take away and use as a reference point in the future.

It’s easy to enrol, and when you've done so we'll send you all the details and enrolment forms, with all links to sign in for the training.

Enrolment is only £180, and you will be working towards a Level 2 accreditation at the same time as learning a heck of a lot about PDA. It will make such a difference.

We look forward to seeing you there!
