Description

www.ondataanddesign.com

A growing body of designers, developers and other creatives are finding new analogue and digital approaches to the navigation of ever-increasing complexity. How can we share ideas? What can we learn from each other about the ups and downs, competing approaches, and evolving terminology of our field?

At these meetups we will loosely explore themes sitting in the overlap between data and design: data visualization, storytelling, information design, visual analysis, data science, infographics and more. We will exchange insights into our working practices, tools and cultures. (scrum, human-centred design, design thinking, service design and more)

Speaker 1: Ksenia Pogorelova will talk about her work as a information designer at the trend research agency Zukunftsinstitut, explaining the potential of journalistic analysis and visualisation of data. She will also go into detail about her work process, providing best practice examples of using currently existing inforaphic apps.

Speaker 2: Burcu Mikulcik will talk about her project Urban Change in time, which visualises the change in Vienna through maps from 1600s till today. She will share with us her experiences and background stories how she build up her research and what we can learn from using visualisations to enable insights and communication.

As usual there will be 2x 25min talks on the topic of data and design.

The talks will be recorded and shared. If you are interested you can have access to the videos made so far. http://bit.ly/2LV65za

We will close with some nice beers and snacks.
