Event description

Description

Join Brit Pop icon turned advocate for the menopause Meg Mathews at the second annual MegsMenopause conference for a day of taboo-busting, open conversation and the latest in scientific research on the menopause.

Meg and her guest speakers will aim to break the stigma of the menopause by empowering women with the knowledge and confidence to take on this time of their lives.

Last year, at the very first MegsMenopause conference, guest speakers and experts included: specialist menopause nurse and chair of the British Menopause Society Kathy Abernethy, founder of Menopause Matters Dr Heather Currie, nutritional expert Dr Marilyn Glenville and renowned gynaecologist Dr Sara Matthews (BBC One The Truth About The Menopause). They were joined by the Daisy Network charity who are the foremost authority on premature menopause. We look forward to an equally engaging line-up this year (speakers TBC).

Topics to be discussed at this conference include: HRT and complementary therapies, the power of mindfulness, how you can cope with sleep, anxiety and depression; sex during the menopause years, premature menopause, good nutrition, risk groups, motherhood during the menopause and much more! There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience at the conclusion of each talk.

ABOUT THE MENOPAUSE

The menopause is a natural process that every woman will eventually go through. The average age for the menopause in the UK is 51. Some women may have quite a difficult experience while others may sail through it. Your experience of the menopause will greatly depend on a number of things including body type, family history and lifestyle. There are 34 common symptoms of the menopause which include hot flushes, joint pain, loss of libido, anxiety and fatigue. These symptoms are typically due to the natural decline in estrogen. Fortunately, all symptoms are manageable through lifestyle and diet changes, as well as natural and medical treatments.
