About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes

"I am so glad I was finally able to make it along to this class. I am so glad I did. It is one of the best, most dynamic, safe and supported Meisner rooms I have ever been in. Skye runs things with such warmth and generosity. It's wonderful to see and be a part of."

Skye’s practise focusses on two main goals: for her students to gain huge amounts of confidence and independence within Meisner’s work and crucially, to gain a full understanding of how and where you can apply it.

THIS COURSE IS SUITABLE FOR ACTORS WITH SOME PREVIOUS MEISNER EXPERIENCE -

Any student who was attended another Meisner with Skye 3 class intensive or at least 2 Meisner with Skye drop in classes previously is eligible to attend. If you have other Meisner technique experience, please disclose this to me prior to booking via email - actorskyhal@gmail.com

In this course you will be going through all of the core elements of Meisner’s repetition exercise; from breaking down how it works, to why actors use it and how to apply this technique to scenes, monologues and personal character prep work, so you feel confident to go into the industry and make the most out of this introduction.

This is a purely practical course, where you will learn through practising and honing these exercises.

The course will run over three afternoons on Tueday the 22nd, Wednesday the 23rd, Thursday the 24th of October 2025 from 2-5:30PM. The course is limited to 14 participants so each person will receive a huge amount of 1-2-1 attention and have a chance to try every exercise to it's fullest.

  • The first session will focus on applying Repetition to text, working on a contemporary duologue, which participants will be sent prior to the course.
  • In the second session we will take this work further, applying the text work to Independent Activities, with high stakes and imagined circumstances - helping you to feel totally alive and in the moment during a scene.
  • The final session will focus on character work and relationship work. This will culminate in a sharing of the scene: incorporating the Meisner with text work and Independent Activity work, together with the text.

In each session there will be couple of short breaks and a longer 15-20 minute break for you to have a snack and a cup of tea!

Meisner’s work is like a gym for an actor, it helps you to flex all of your acting muscles so that you are raring to go when jumping into a scene/monologue.

Skye cares deeply about creating a safe and encouraging environment for her students and is confident this course will be a fun and playful exploration of Meisner technique where mistakes and questions of any kind, at any time, are welcome!

Skye currently teaches at LAMDA, RADA, Arts Ed and various other top drama schools and training programs.

Meisner’s work is like a gym for an actor, it helps you to flex all of your acting muscles so that you are raring to go when jumping into a scene/monologue.

The classes will be structured around one main goal, whether it be finding your confidence with emotional observation, understanding the 3 moments exercise or applying repetition to text and character, every session will aim for you to feel satisfied, having conquered the basics, ready to try the more advanced exercises.

There may be a small scene or monologue to prep prior to certain classes but lots of time will be given to do this prior to the sessions.

All actors are welcome, no prior Meiser experience necessary!
