Member Masterclass: Finance series - Understanding your pension
Event Information
About this Event
In part two of our personal finance series hosted by Halo Financial, who are joined by Tony Chamberlain of GBPensions, who will help to understand UK pensions and support us to make the best possible decisions when planning for our futures.
For many of us, plans of returning home to New Zealand are in motion, set firmly in our sights or have been considered for the future. So then too should be our UK pension schemes.
Understandably, working through future retirement plans can be difficult and confusing. This confusion only doubles when considering the possible tax implications and logistics of moving pension funds between NZ and the UK.
Whilst these decisions can be challenging, the choices you make can have a significant impact on your financial position later in life and it’s valuable to consider options early on.
So, what exactly is there to consider when returning to New Zealand?
GBPensions is possibly the only pension transfer specialist firm in New Zealand to offer their clients three distinct options:
- Simply, leave the pension where it is
- Move funds into a SIPP (Self-Invested Personal Pension)
- Transfer it to a NZ QROPS (Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme)
Tony will demystify the jargon, explain the key benefits and disadvantages of each option and will ensure we have all the necessary information to make informed decisions when it comes to pension and retirement choices.
This Member Masterclass in the second in a three-part personal finance series hosted by Halo Financial. Part 3 on Wednesday 3 February 2021 will cover purchasing and selling property in the UK.
