The School of Life Members' Book Club: In-Person with Alain de Botton
We are delighted to announce our first-ever in-person book club, held at Old Sessions House in London. For this special occasion, Alain de Botton will lead a conversation on our October Book of the Month: How Emotionally Mature Are You?
The book explores some of the most important themes of emotional life: the legacy of childhood, the necessity of self-love, the dangers of perfectionism, and the challenge of overcoming impostor syndrome. Through thoughtful essays, it offers both clarity and consolation, mapping a path towards the kind of adulthood we might long for: self-aware, grounded, and at ease with ourselves.
This gathering will be intimate, limited to just 15 participants. Together, we’ll reflect on the text, exchange perspectives, and practise the art of thinking with others. The conversation will also be recorded, ensuring that our wider community can engage and add their voices from wherever they are in the world.
We warmly invite you to join us, whether in the room or online, for an evening of reflection, insight, and calm.
Please note: This session will take place in London (GMT) and is for The School of Life Members. Tickets cost £10 excluding ticket fees, and we will be filming this event.
