Brief

As part of our new three-year strategy, the British Youth Council (BYC) have re-evaluated our member engagement and will be hosting three Members Meetings' across 2018.

The Members Meeting is a space for member organisations and the British Youth Council to share common issues and challenges as well as priorities, campaigns, and much more with one another.

This will be a chance for us to explore with you how you can get the most out of your membership of the British Youth Council, look at how we can work in partnership with you more closely, and share with you the latest developments at the British Youth Council

The second meeting on May the 19th will build on the success of the first meeting and will continue the year engaging our member organisations, building stronger inter-organisational relationships, and creating a deeper sense of 'BYC' as a network of youth organisations and young people.

In this meeting we will be discussing the British Youth Council's national and international work and how members can get involved; we will discuss the Annual Council Meeting and our policy making processes; young people will take part in a Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport workshop; and finally, members will have a chance to lead their own sessions showcasing their respective priorities, campaigns, and initiatives.

Objectives:

  • To have a better understanding of the British Youth Council's national and international work

  • To prep delegates for the Annual Council Meeting (ACM) and provide a better understanding of our policy processes

  • To give our members a chance to engage with a Government department on issues important to young people

  • To provide a space for BYC’s member organisations to present their initiatives, processes, and priorities during their own member-led sessions

  • To have members create new and stronger links and connections to help work towards their respective goals and outcomes

Other Information:

The event will take place on the 19th of May at our office at CAN Mezzanine, 49-51 East Road, London, starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Please note that the deadline for registering is Monday 14th of May 2018 in order for us to make sure we can meet any dietary requirements and access needs.

We will also be inviting both youth delegates and staff members from our member organisations. For the interest of continuity throughout the year, we hope that the delegates and staff attending this meeting will have attended the previous meeting in February 2018.

Please note this meeting is aimed at those organisations that are not a part of our Youth Voice programme but all our members are just as welcome!

We will be handing out the agenda on the day of the meeting but if any member organisation would like to discuss a campaign/priority/policy etc. during the meeting, then please indicate this on the registration form when you confirm your attendance. There will be a section of the meeting dedicated to how BYC and the network of member organisations can support one another and individual topic requests will be discussed here and added to the agenda.

We have some travel bursaries available for those organisations who would not be able to participate without this support. Please contact Rob Coate at rob.coate@byc.org.uk for more details.

If you have any questions about this event please contact Rob Coate at rob.coate@byc.org.uk and 020 7250 8372 or at events@byc.org.uk.
