About this session

Do you have concerns about a child's memory?

Can they find it difficult to recall vocabulary, things they thought they had learnt or find problem solving almost impossible?

Are they struggling with acquisition of basic literacy and numeracy skills...spelling, times tables etc?

Then our new Memory Matters is the session for you.

This hour version of this enjoyable session will provide cover:

  • WHAT the different types of memory are
  • WHY memory is so important
  • HOW we can help

As a result of this session you will:

  • be empowered to consider your own pedagogy to make it easier for children to remember.
  • have a suite of strategies to support children better- helping them develop their own metacognition skills.
  • possibly understand yourself more too!  

Suitable for:

• SENCos, Teachers, Learning Support Assistants and Parents

Session Leaders:

Sarah Singleton

The session is led by Sarah Singleton. Sarah is a Level 7 (Dyslexia) Specialist Teacher with nearly 30 years of teaching experience. She was an advisory teacher in mainstream schools for 12 years and is now an independent consultant and Director of SEND Station Ltd.

Nicola Durrant

This session is led by Nicola Durrant, an Autism Specialist Teacher and Consultant as well as being a Mum to an amazing Autistic daughter. She worked as a SENCO for eight years and a specialist advisor for 13 years while also training as dyslexia assessor and gaining a Master’s degree in Autism. As an independent specialist teacher Nicola has a proven track record of first-class support and advice for parents and teachers and is a Director of SEND Station.
