On Friday 24th February the UK’s leading learning disability charity Mencap will be hosting a FREE Planning for the Future seminar in London. The seminar will provide information on how families and carers can ensure that someone with a learning disability is provided for financially when they are no longer around, by making a suitable will or setting up a trust.
When your loved one has a learning disability, it is important that measures are in place to ensure a secure financial future. This seminar is an ideal place to get started – you will be able to find valuable information and legal advice on wills and trusts, as well as gaining peace of mind. We will also provide you with a free information pack.
Our speaker will be a legal professional with experience in trust and estate law. They will be available to answer any questions you may have on writing a will, the legality of safeguarding a loved one’s financial future, how to set up and run a discretionary and disabled persons trust and the implications of not having the correct provisions in place.
Parents often worry about how their loved one will manage their financial affairs when they are no longer around. They may be concerned that inheriting a large amount of money may leave them in a vulnerable position and they may also want to ensure that their loved one is able to benefit from their full inheritance. This seminar will offer practical information to help you make the right decisions for your family.
Over the course of the year, Mencap will run 48 Planning for the Future seminars throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. As a charity Mencap provides these seminars free of charge but each events can cost up to £1000 to deliver. A donation however small is appreciated but not a requirement of attendance. These events are free. To find out about other Planning for the Future events, or general information about writing a will and setting up a trust visit www.mencap.org.uk/willsandtrusts
