Menopause shouldn’t be a taboo subject, and everyone should feel they can have an open conversation with their line manager, especially when they need advice or support.

With a growing number of people going through the menopause transition experiencing symptoms so severe that they leave the workplace, all managers should understand the impact that symptoms can have, and know how to support their colleagues.

Research shows that people are often uncomfortable disclosing their symptoms and problems to managers, particularly if those managers are young or male. For this reason, we strongly encourage managers of all ages and genders to attend this training.

This workshop will cover:

Why we need to talk openly about menopause
What menopause is, why it happens and when
Understanding the signs and symptoms
How you can approach having a menopause conversation in your role as line manager
How best to support someone experiencing menopausal symptoms
Where to access support and resources available at the University

This workshop will take place in person on campus in the Meeting House.

Late cancellations that leave places empty have considerable cost implications for the University and take away the opportunity for other staff members who might wish to attend. Given this, a late cancellation fee of £50 will be charged to your School or Division if you cancel your booking within three days of the course start date.
