Raising awareness of the menopause and exploring ways in which we can support our team members who may be experiencing symptoms.
About this event
The menopause is a natural part of ageing that usually occurs somewhere between 45 and 55 years of age. In the UK, the average age for a woman to reach the menopause is 51. It is due to a decline (and therefore deficiency) in the hormones Oestrogen and Progesterone. Some women have only mild symptoms of the menopause, but many experience some fairly disruptive or serious symptoms which can have an effect on their confidence, health and wellbeing. 77% of all women don’t realise that their symptoms are due to the menopause. Once they do realise they have menopausal symptoms, 42% don’t go to see their GP because they don’t want to be a burden and they feel that it’s a natural process and they should be able to cope on their own, however, there are many interventions that can really help women to thrive.
Join us on our RCS Menopause awareness webinar to find out more about the Menopause and its effects. The webinar is relevant and useful for men and women alike. It’s full of facts to make you better informed such as;
- Exactly what is the menopause?
- Why does it happen?
- What are some of the symptoms?
- How does it affect women at work?
- The cost of menopause to society and business when it remains untreated.
- What should we be doing to support menopausal women at work?
- What medication and interventions can help?
- What are our legal responsibilities?
- How does an employer benefit when they support menopausal women?
- What are some of the reasonable adjustments that might help?
Let’s break the stigma about menopause and find out how we can help. By being open to learn, ask questions and discuss it, we empower women to be able to get the right help at the right time. Anyone who knows a woman, needs to understand the menopause.
