About this event

Menopause for Managers webinar

Overview

This 1 hour session is aimed at HR professionals and line managers. With women comprising nearly 50% of the UK’s workforce, and around 3.5 million women aged 50 and over, the menopause is an issue which affects a huge proportion of employees. Despite increasing awareness of menopause symptoms and the impact of the menopause at work, this is still often seen as a subject not to be broached by employers. Improving menopause care and support has been the subject of much debate and consultation recently and a number of changes are expected on the horizon. In the meantime, a series of cases have looked at the existing protection for women under the Equality Act 2020, which has enabled women to bring successful claims for sex, age and disability discrimination connected to the menopause.

The training will consider key practical issues, such as:

- How can employers increase staff awareness of menopause?

- When are employers required to make reasonable adjustments in connection with the menopause?

- When can employers be liable for inappropriate comments regarding the menopause by colleagues?

- What training should employers provide to managers?

- Are employers obliged to consider menopause symptoms in health and safety risk assessments?

- Should employers have a menopause policy?

You will gain a good grounding in the legal obligations owed by employers to employees going through the menopause and how to manage key issues to reduce the risk of claims. You will leave knowing how to have conversations with all staff about the menopause and with ideas to implement positive changes in your workplace.

Who should attend?

The ideal delegates for this course would be line managers, HR professionals and others with HR responsibility who want to learn more about the menopause in the workplace.
