Women over the age of 50 are the fastest growing segment of the workforce in the UK, with employment rates among 50-to-64 year-olds at 73%, the highest since 1975.

The menopause leads to a huge loss of talent in the workplace - over 14 million work days are lost to the menopause every year in the UK - and as a result of menopause symptoms, 79% said that if they'd have had more help at work, this would have helped them stay.*

*A Menopause in the Workplace study of 3809 women conducted by Newson Health Research and Education

Introducing our incredible panelists...

Dr Rebecca Lewis, Clinical Director at Newson Health Menopause & Wellbeing Centre

Dr Lewis is passionate about improving education and knowledge about the menopause, not only within medicine but in the workplace and society as a whole. She now works solely within the menopause speciality and dedicates her time to seeing patients and lecturing and writing articles with the aim to empower women with evidence-based knowledge so that they can make informed decisions about managing their menopause. You can read more about Dr Rebecca Lewis here

Gaele Lalahy, COO of Balance

COO of the femtech start-up Balance-app.com, Gaele is also a Non-executive Director for the National Paralympic Heritage Trust and was previously a board member at Panasonic.

After her successful corporate career stretching 20 years, Gaele jumped to run the balance app - founded by Dr Louise Newson - offering free support for perimenopausal and menopausal women globally. With a mission to make menopause support accessible and inclusive, the balance app empowers women with unbiased, evidence-based information to instigate a faster diagnosis and demand themselves access to the appropriate treatment and thrive in their lives

Jane Oglesby, Chair of the Shared Health Foundation CIC and trustee of the Oglesby Charitable Trust

Jane is married to Chris, CE of Bruntwood, and her personal journey has been the reason behind the work they now undertake in the menopause space. Despite having been a qualified GP, Jane did not get the right help quickly enough with her perimenopause symptoms which had a significant effect on her ability to do her jobs and care for her family. It was the realisation of how wide spread the lack of access to help is, that gave her the ambition to help Drs Louise Newson and Rebecca Lewis, national menopause experts, set up the free Balance menopause app and start The Menopuase Charity, of which she is currently a trustee.

Thanks to her HRT, she is also an active trustee of the Oglesby Charitable Trust; helped to set up and now Chairs the Shared Health Foundation CIC; sits on the boards of the Focused care CIC and the Centre for Social Justice (a cross party policy think tank) and the Global Leadership Board (a development board) of the UoM. She also runs a regenerative beef farm in Cheshire and works to raise awareness of those farming practices.

Chris Oglesby, Chief Executive of Bruntwood

Chris, appointed CEO in 1999, has overseen Bruntwood’s growth to owning over £1bn of commercial property across Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Leeds. Bruntwood was founded on a belief that its success comes from the success of its colleagues, customers and the communities in which it operates.

Chris has previously spoken with Dr Louise Newson about how his wife, Jane, really struggled during her perimenopause and menopause and how difficult it was for him to watch her experience various symptoms.

Chris is vocal, honest and passionate about the need for employers to explore ways in which menopause in the workplace can be addressed to improve organisations, and how poor menopause care is a global health problem which urgently needs to be addressed.
