Event description
How to live well with the menopause and talk to a variety of people including health professionals .

About this Event

In 2016, the British Menopause Society (BMS) conducted a survey that revealed that 50% of women go through the menopause without consulting a healthcare professional, despite suffering symptoms. The menopause can impact on all areas of a woman's life. The aim of this conference is to provide women with the information they need to make to make informed decisions on how they are going to manage their menopause.

In the morning there will be talks by professionals on the physical aspects of the menopause, including HRT, the mental health aspects, including CBT, and the effect the menopause can have on a woman's identity.

Lunch will comprise of menopause friendly food and participants will have the opportunity to browse informative displays, get make up advice from Girl Friday, a make up artist and skin care from Revive Beauty.

The afternoon will comprise of workshops. There will be workshops on HRT, nutrition, the workplace, sleep, relationships and re-inventing your life. Participants will be able to attend two workshops . Places will be limited to 25 on each workshop to allow full participation and will be allocated on a first come first served basis on the day. So if a particular workshop takes your fancy... arrive early to avoid disappointment! At the end of the day, each workshop will give a summery of their activities and advice, so all wisdom will be shared.

As one generation is coming to the end of their menstrual life, we also aim to support those just starting, so there will be a collection point for sanitary products which will be donated to the Red Box Project which helps to ease Period Poverty in Plymouth. There will also be an opportunity to donate to Binti International, a small charity helping to break down the myths and stigma of menstruation in India.
