About;

For women of different ages and stages of Menopause.

Yoga sessions based on Menopause Yoga as developed by Petra Coveney who I trained with, open to any woman at any age or stage that feels the call to join these or one off sessions depending on the theme. “Supporting women on their menopause journey” … this for me is in the lead up to menopause when you intuitively are feeling changes in your hormones, those who are in the midst of the changes and for those who are well and truly through the menopause yet still feel a session chime with them and or feeling the results of changes in hormones.

Menopause Yoga, the Yoga Teacher training and qualification I gained, views and approaches Menopause as biological, psychological, social and spiritual transition in a woman's life and is an approach that doesn’t push one view or doctrine and instead hopes to offer tools and or pointers that can help women be with menopause and beyond.

Women are cyclical like the moon and at times when our hormones are changing and so our bodies and minds are, these sessions aim to nourish, replenish, bring in movement to be with and or release some symptoms you may be feeling as a result of changes going on in your body. Knowing menopause is a very individual experience, these sessions will hopefully give you tools and ways you can incorporate into your menopause years, beyond and indeed life in general.

The sessions include yoga sequences based on the styles of Hatha, Yin and Restorative, meditation, mindfulness and breathwork and the sharing of some alternative perspectives on menopause all with deep respect that menopause is very much an individual experience and choice of how to move through and navigate, these are all simply suggestions.

The Yoga sequences are tailored to manage menopausal symptoms and some look to help maintain bone density helping prevent osteoporosis by building and maintaining muscle mass and strength, using the weight of your own body in Yoga poses, flexibility to maintain mobility and balance. Whilst the meditation, mindfulness and breathwork help calm the mind and nervous system, reduce heat in the body (anger and actual heat) and help reconnect with our Self, as well as offering practices that can be practiced off the mat in your day-to-day life. Finishing with tea and a chance to be and share experiences with other women.

I personally think if you are navigating your way through menopause, there is something to be got from all 4 sessions, however there is the option to come to the ones you feel are relevant for you or all 4.

A bit about Emma;

I have been practising Yoga for 18 years, teaching it for 4 years and love what Yoga can do for the mind, body and soul. I completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh, India learning Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha as well as various Meditation and Pranayama (breathing) techniques. I trained with Petra Coveney in October 2023 on her Menopause Yoga teacher training course.

I definitely felt a shift in my hormones in my early 40’s … my energy levels plummeted, moods and anxiety changed significantly to anything I’d experienced before, my body was starting to feel different and want different things, with all this there definitely came a sense of finding new ways to be - physically, mentally, spiritually and an intuitive yet gnarly process of letting go of what was no longer needed for me and actually couldn’t be maintained any longer. I have sought many alternative healing modalities and have been lucky to be surrounded by other women who have either been through or are in the midst of menopause and generously share their wisdom, experience, humour and knowing around it.

I trained with Petra Coveney on her Menopause Yoga teacher training in October 2023, enjoying what it taught me, the knowledge sharing and approach with other Yoga teachers. However I was hesitant to offer it as sessions, as there was a lot of talk around menopause at the time and still is, which again I’m so grateful my generation has, as I truly don’t know how women before us moved through this without it. I needed to sit with the chat as well as be and move through where I was at in menopause … a lot of shedding, reconciling, adapting to symptoms and still seeing. However Yoga, meditation and breathwork have been some of my constants that have really aided me through this and so I now feel in a place to offer some of these wonderful ways to other women.
