About this event
Menopause is not just hot flushes and your periods stopping. Symptoms can begin in peri-menopause when your oestrogen levels drop and you begin your transition to menopause. This may occur in your 40’s or earlier in some cases. The transition to post menopause can take many years and can affect women differently with a variety of symptoms. You may be feeling angry, irritable, experiencing brain fog, feeling anxious, palpitations, achy joints, difficulty sleeping, lack of confidence, a feeling of being overwhelmed the list goes on but you are not alone.
Menopause Yoga is here to help. This Menopause Yoga Workshop is suitable for women of all stages of menopause. For those who are curious and want to learn about that future stage in their lives and for women who are post menopausal and well into their Second Spring, these wise women we will undoubtedly learn from.
You will explore how to use yoga, breathing techniques and mindfulness meditation to help recognise and ease symptoms. At the end of your session I will guide you into deep relaxation allowing your mind and body to take a well earned pause.
We will come together in a Women’s Circle and discuss natural remedies, HRT, diet, lifestyle choices, stress and other triggers which may exacerbate symptoms.
This workshop will help to empower you on your menopause journey known traditionally in Eastern cultures and in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a positive transformation into your Second Spring.
What will you need :
A yoga mat - a bolster or two pillows in a pillow case - a blanket or a large towel - yoga brick or block or two thick books. Wear comfortable clothing that you can move easily in and bring some warm socks.

About me :
I am Helen Makinson I practised Yoga for over 20 years and have been teaching Yoga since 2006. I am qualified teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga and have specialised in Yoga for Mental Health and Yoga for Menopause. I have recently qualified in Yoga for Pelvic Floor Health and am awaiting certification. Over a period of 20 years I have continued my studies with many national and international teachers taking inspiration from a variety of traditions and styles of yoga. My style of Yoga is adapted to suit all shapes, personalities and abilities.
