About this event
About this event:
Rright now, with so many conversations happening around what it means to be a man in today's world, it's more important than ever for men to have spaces to show up, be seen, and simply talk.
No pressure, no expectations — just real conversations in a relaxed setting over a casual hike!
Walking side-by-side makes talking easier (and the science backs it up). Add nature, some fresh air, and a few like-minded men, and you've got a simple but powerful way to connect.
Why join?
- Get outside, move your body, clear your head by doing a hike!
- Meet new people in a laid-back environment
- Have meaningful conversations — or just enjoy the hike!
- Grab a coffee and maybe make some new mates!
Who’s it for?
This space is for anyone who identifies as male. Whether you're navigating life changes, want to meet others in a relaxed way, or simply enjoy a good walk and chat — you're welcome to join us.
Details:
- We'll meet outside Chingford Overground station
- Coffee stop included (bring a few pounds if you want a brew)
- Then we hike in the Epping Forest - casual pace, no fitness level required — just come as you are
Important:
- Please wear comfy shoes and dress for the weather.
- If it rains heavily, we’ll reschedule or find a covered route.
Ready to join?
Reserve your spot now, spaces are limited to keep the group small and easy to connect.
We can’t wait to walk and talk with you.
About the Facilitator - Alex Whitton
Alex is a coach and facilitator whose work focuses on living and leading authentically. For him, connection is at the heart of an authentic and fulfilling life: Connection to us, to others and to our world around us.
As he continues to navigate personal challenges with perfectionism, fear of scarcity and self-worth, he has come to notice that for him part of these challenges are tied to what it means to be a man today and the cultural expectations that surround manhood. It is this that is at the heart of his desire to bring men together to talk about their experiences and what really matters to them.
With a background in charity leadership, a love of reading, writing, baking and rugby, he brings a range of experiences and curiosity to his work coaching individuals 1-1, supporting organisations to enable people to be their best, and working with young men in prisons. And where he can he’ll throw a pun into the mix.
ABOUT CONNECTED YOU COMMUNITY
We believe connection is the transformation.
Connected You creates safe, heart-led and coach-led spaces — both online and in-person — where you connect meaningfully with others, and most importantly, reconnect with yourself.
Connected You isn’t just a community. It’s a lifestyle built on strong foundations, a lifestyle where connection leads to reflection, reflection leads to action, and action leads to transformation.
Connected You isn't just about gathering — it's about guided gathering, where coaching and mentoring create space for self-connection and transformation.
The coach or mentor will:
Hold the group in a safe, intentional way (not just a casual meet-up).
Bring deeper reflection, learning, and growth.
Add real value and transformation beyond just "small talk" and “social connection.”
Founded by Essi Virtanen, who draws on her background in journalism and coaching, Connected You was created as a sanctuary for those seeking to be seen and heard. Essi’s understanding of the power of shared stories in healing and uniting us has shaped our philosophy: we are all connected, and through these connections, we can grow and thrive.
