Description

Mental Health and Wellbeing for PGRS

Two separate sessions offered as follows:

November 5th 2018, 10.00 - 12.00

February 12th 2019, 12.00 - 14.00

Training Room 4.09, Graduate School, St Andrew's Court

PGR students are at high risk of experiencing symptoms of psychological distress and developing a psychiatric disorder. As part of an ongoing project (funded by the Office for Students) to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of PGR students, this session will help supervisors identify indicators of mental health problems; outline resources available to support staff and students; and provide guidance on when referral to specialist help and support is required. The session will also brief supervisors on new initiatives (including specialist online resources and peer mentoring circles) being trialled as part of the project and include wider discussion of PGR students’ transition to doctoral study and mental health issues in academia.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is currently open only to Portsmouth University affiliated staff.
