Description

Not just a 1 in 10: For parents and carers:

This workshop is for carers/ parents of young people, in particular those whose year 4 children in Brighton and Hove schools have been, or will be, involved in the classroom session 'Flo and the Funny Feelings', raising awareness of mental health. This session is in turn part of the national #IAMWHOLE mental health awareness campaign.

This 2 hour workshop offers an introduction into the emotional health needs of children, raising awareness as well as providing information of how to recognise an emerging mental health concern. The workshop will help parents and carers identify risk factors for a developing mental health issue, whilst also exploring the protective factors that enhance a young person's resilience to thrive in the world.

We aim for this to be a relaxed forum for exploring resilience-boosting strategies as well as providing information about the more common mental health issues of depression and anxiety, and how to seek further help if you feel you need it. If you feel comfortable you will have the opportunity to share your own experience if you wish.

The session will be run by an experienced and expert trainer and professional, currently working in children's mental health.

Dress code: However you feel comfortable.
