Mental Health Awareness Fundraiser for 19
Thu 27 April 2017, 18:00 – 20:00 BST
19 is about giving hope and supporting young people cope with life and giving them hope. 19 is about us all being familiar and friends with mental health awareness. 19 is about creating a network of mentors that can help and support young, vulnerable people. Lastly, its about change, 19 is bringing mental awareness into schools, colleges, universities and workplaces.
In order to introduce 19 to the public, myself and the Topshop team will be holding a fundraiser mental health awareness evening. The evening will be held on the 16th of March 2016, from 6pm-8pm. Tickets will be sold at £4 each, with a small vat charge - all ticket sales will be donated to the charity 19.
The evening will involve a live talk by a qualified doctor. Discussing the symptoms and effects of mental health. Explaining how you can support the ones suffering and what help you can seek if you're the one battling the illness. A live DJ, two live bands, a cake sale, barber and salon pop up stalls, glitter girls, a bar, cocktail making classes, performances expressing mental health, a race car track, photo booth, casino tables and much more. All work shops will be ran by students.
There will also be the opportunity to purchase a mental health awareness t-shirt and wrist bands. Again, all donated to 19. For ticket holders, the store will still be available for trading.
For me, this is an evening to create awareness and to remember Sam. Whether it be, coming along to remember someone you've personally lost due to mental health or just attending on the basis of spreading the word of such an important illness, everyone is welcome.
