Description

“I found Health in Mind’s Mental Health Informed Practice training both informative and stimulating. There was a good balance of information and practical support which has increased my knowledge and confidence, which will help me when working in this area.” Ross Barrow, Stakeholder Relations Officer, Energy Savings Trust

Introduction

We are all on the mental health spectrum one way or another. This half-day course gives an overview of all aspects of mental health and wellbeing. The stigma surrounding mental health still has an effect on how we approach mental health and wellbeing. By become more aware of what mental health is, as well as learning some practical tips and helpful information in how to develop resilience, we find that participants on this course are better positioned to both look after themselves and help others.

Our Mental Health Awareness course is informed by our organisation's experience of providing services that support and enable mental health and wellbeing across Lothian. For this course we will have two trainers, one of whom has direct lived experience of mental health issues.

This course works well with all types of staff and volunteers. The training is interactive with a full range of approaches including quizzes, poetry, case studies, presentations, lots of discussion, narratives of recovery and skills practice.
