This course is designed to provide a very broad overview of mental health problems.

About this event

It is estimated that 1 in 4 of us will be diagnosed with some form of mental health problem at some point in our lives.

It is therefore important for those of us who work with people have a broad understanding of mental health and the issues it may cause for our clients, customers and service users – and their families.

What will I learn on the Mental Health Awareness course?

  • Society approaches to mental health
  • Overview of common mental health problems (ICD-10 and DSM-IV)
  • Each person is unique
  • Living with mental health – difficulties faced in today’s society
  • Causes of mental health
  • Legal issues and legislation relating to mental health
  • Common mental health disorders

Eligibility

This course is available for individuals that wish to improve their knowledge of mental health in the workplace.

This course is funded by the European Social Fund and to access this course the following eligibility criteria must be met:

  • You must be in employment (including self employment)
  • Have the Right to Live and Work in the UK
  • Be able to provide evidence of the above (e.g. passport/driving licence/birth certificate & payslip/employment confirmation from your employer
