What will I learn?

This Adult 2 day course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider. Mental Health First Aiders have:

  • An in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix

How will I learn?

Course is delivered across 2 days, and learning takes place across four manageable sessions. Through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions, each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan. You may view the full breakdown of the course structure on the MHFA England website

You'll receive a 275pg Adult MHFA course manual that you can take away with you at the end of the session and an attendance certificate will be emailed to you from MHFA England following attendance at the course. Late joiners and early leavers will not be issued an attendance certificate.

Who can attend the course?

The course is for everyone aged 16 and above. You should be a working in Newham. You do not require any qualifications or experience in mental health to take part. Registration is MANDATORY.
