Do you want to become a Mental Health First Aider?
We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to become a qualified Mental Health First Aider. Upon completion of the two day Adult Mental Health First Aid, an internationally recognised course, you will be a Mental Health First Aider.
What will you learn?
You will learn about a range of mental health issues: depression, suicidal crisis, anxiety, personality disorders, eating disorders, self-harm, psychosis, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. You will learn how to:
Recognise the symptoms of mental health issues
Provide initial help
Guide a person towards appropriate professional help
What are the benefits?
You will help create supportive environments for people and improve their lives – whether they are your client, colleague or family.
Who can attend?
The course is only open to people who work (particularly those in public facing roles), reside (including carers) and study in Tower Hamlets.
You will be expected to complete an evaluation questionnaire upon completion of training to help us to improve future delivery. You will receive a copy of the MHFA manual and workbook, and a certificate.

When and where will the course take place?
A selection of dates is available from January – March 2017. All courses will be held at the Education Centre, Mile End Hospital.
The standard training costs £300 per person, however places are fully funded by the Community Education Provider Network for all Tower Hamlets staff, students, carers and residents
This is a joint initiative between Tower Hamlets Community Education Provider Network and London Borough of Tower Hamlets Public Health. Failure to attend or notify us in advance will result in a £300 charge.
