Event description
Mental Heath First Aid Course. Licensed by MHFA England and Accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.

About this Event

Decription

Mental Health First Aid ( MHFA) Adult course teaches people how to identify, understand and help a person who may be developing a mental health challenge. By learning to recognise the signs that someone may be unwell, you might be able to provide initial help to guide a person towards appropriate professional help and in its most powerful form, save a life by learning basic suicide intervention skills.

What will I learn?

MHFA Adult course is split up into 4 manageable chunks. These are:

DAY ONE: What is mental health, Stigma, discrimination, Depression, Suicide, Listening skills etc.

DAY TWO: Anxiety disorder, CBT, Eating disorders, Self-harm, Psychosis, Recovery and building resources etc.

In each section you'll learn how to:

- Spot the early signs of a mental health problem

- Feel confident helping someone experiencing a mental health problem

- Provide help on a first aid basis

- Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others

- Help stop a mental illness from getting worse

- Help someone recover faster - Guide someone towards the right support

- Reduce the stigma of mental health problems

How will I learn?

The MHFA Adult course takes place over two full days and participants must attend both days to receive their certificate.

The sessions will be a mix of presentation, group discussions and group work activities. We provide a very safe learning environment and are trained to support you throughout the whole course. If you don't feel comfortable joining in certain bits, then don't, we won't make you do something you aren't comfortable with.

Due to some of the sensitive subjects of our courses, including suicide, we limit numbers to 16 people. We want everyone to feel safe and our instructors can help if people find some bits particularly difficult.

Who can attend?

The course is for everyone! Some of the contents could be quite sensitive and can be upsetting to some so we would only ask you to register if you are over 16 years old. We want to ensure that we create a safe and suitable learning environment for all our attendees.

Cost

£225.00/person.

This includes the tuition, all learning materials and a professionally printed Mental Health First Aid Manual. On completion of the two days, participants will receive a certificate from MHFA England confirming them as a Mental Health First Aider.

Water, tea and coffee will be supplied throughout each day. As there are plenty of places locally to eat I have decided to leave delegates to make their own arrangements for lunch.

Cancellation Policy

75% refund if written cancellation is received 1 month before the event, 50% refund if written cancellation is received 2 weeks before the event and No refund for cancellations received with less than 2 weeks’ notice.
