Mental Health First Aid Half Day Awareness Raising Leeds

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their life. Even so most of us know very little about mental health. There is lots of evidence to prove that early intervention can help slow down or stop a mental health problem, yet we often don't spot the signs that someone is struggling until very late.

It is designed to give you:

• An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma

• A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues

• An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing

• Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue

Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. We limit numbers to 25 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

Everyone who completes the course gets:

• A manual to refer to whenever you need it

• A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health

• A certificate of attendance to say you are Mental Health Aware

Training will take place at Leeds College of Music For directions, click the linl here. Please note, parking is not included, and you will need to find suitble parking if travelling by car.

Cancellation Policy

We appreciate that when circumstances change you may no longer be able to attend a training course date you have already booked and paid for. Whilst we will always try our best to accommodate any alterations to your plans, BECTU has a standard cancellation policy which is as follows:

If you notify us (phone/email) 7 full days or longer before the scheduled course date you will not be charged and will be refunded in full any course fees you have paid.

For any cancellation you make that is less than 7 full days before the course date, you will be charged 50% of the total course fee with 50% refunded. This is unless you can demonstrate to us extenuating circumstances.

If you do not attend the course and/or fail to notify us in advance you will be charged the full course fee.

We are unable to reimburse any non-transferable travel or accommodation expenses that may arise from a course being re-scheduled or cancelled.

BECTU reserves the right to cancel courses without liability. However, where possible, delegates will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.

Data Protection

BECTU Training is supported with funding from Union Learning Fund, a National Funding Body supported by the Government. By registering for this BECTU training course or event, you are accepting that your personal data will be shared with the funder as part of BECTU’s requirements to receive the funding.

Union Learning
Courses run in England are administered with the support of the Union Learning Fund (ULF). As part of the Funding requirements, the Union is obliged to collect Equality and Diversity information, wherever possible. This is anonymised and shared statistically with the ULF. In line with the Funding requirements, this information is kept for 10 years.

In addition to this, in order to receive your certification as a Mental Health First Aider, teh following data will be shared with Mental Health First Aid England.
