Mental Health First Aid LITE for Waltham Forest Front Line Staff - a half day workshop
Thursday, 24 November 2016 from 09:15 to 12:30 (GMT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
An introductory three hour mental health awareness course delivered by Twining Enterprise on behalf of Waltham Forest Public Health and Waltham Forest CCG.
What will I learn on MHFA Lite?
- Define mental health and some common mental health issues
- Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues
- Relate to people's experiences and support people in distress
- Look after your own mental health.
A mix of presentations, group interaction, and activities. Our trainers provide a safe learning environment and are trained to support you throughout the whole course. If you don’t feel comfortable joining in certain parts, then there is no pressure to.
Due to some of the sensitive subjects of our courses, we limit numbers to 25 people. We want everyone to feel safe and our instructors can help if people find some parts particularly difficult.
You'll receive a MHFA Lite manual that you can take away with you at the end of the session and an attendance certificate from MHFA England.
Who can attend the course?
The training is provided by Waltham Forest Public Health and Waltham Forest CCG for local front-line Health & Social Care workers. You don’t need any qualifications or experience in mental health to take part.
Here are some examples of roles that can benefit from this free training:
GP receptionists and non-clinical practice staff
Health Care Assistants / Visitors
Community development workers
Other vol sector support workers
