About this event

"...great course ...learnt so much... delivery style was perfect!"

As we all know, coaching is not therapy but we are in professional relationships with people who are often being vulnerable and sharing things that they wouldn't with anyone else in their lives. We may be approached by potential clients, or indeed be working with someone who tells us that they are, or shows signs of being, mentally unwell.

Part of our ethical and professional responsibility as coaches, is to recognise the limits of coaching and our own competencies. If or when we find ourselves at the edge of our remit, with someone who needs professional support with their mental health that is beyond what coaching can or should provide, we need to be able to signpost them to the appropriate service(s).

For me, this course increased my confidence with all this and more. It opened up my awareness around different mental illnesses and the variety of ways that mental ill health may show up in individuals. It led me to feeling more solid and clear about what I can offer in the coaching space and in knowing when I reach the boundary of coaching. It also empowered me around signposting people on to the wonderful services there are out there.

It is super useful doing this kind of CPD with people who have similar experiences, concerns, questions and will be going on to apply their learning in related contexts.

Through a blend of 4 instructor-led live sessions and self-learning activities, you will:

– Develop practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues

– Gain confidence to reassure and support a person in distress

– Learn how to guide them to further support for recovery

The live session dates and times are:

8th July 9am - 12pm

9th July 9am - 12.30pm

15th July 9am - 12pm

16th July 9am - 12pm

Though much of the content is emotive and challenging, there is space for rich conversation and some fun along the way. You will also learn more about your own self care.
