Mental Health First Aid Refresher: Half Day - Online (UOK)

Learning Outcomes:

By attending the course, Mental Health First Aiders will renew their skills and update their knowledge of mental health supports. They’ll learn to:

• Recognise those who may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention
• Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports
• Practise active listening and empathy
• Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma
• Discuss the role in depth, including boundaries and confidentiality
• Practise self-care
• Know how to use the MHFAider Support App®
• Know how to access a dedicated text service provided by Shout and ongoing learning opportunities with MHFA England®
• Learn beyond the course through membership of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders

Format:

• Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities

In just four hours, your Mental Health First Aiders will:

• Renew their skills
• Update their knowledge of mental health supports
• Practise applying the MHFA action plan

Who should attend?

This course is designed for individuals who are already certified Mental Health First Aiders or who have completed a Level 3 Qualification in Mental Health.

Eligibility

This training has been funded by UOK - a network of local services committed to supporting good mental health and wellbeing in Brighton and Hove. To be eligible for a funded place you need to be working within the Brighton & Hove City boundary, with people in vulnerable or high risk groups.

As a guide, we offer each organisation three places per course type, per financial year. However, for larger organisations further places may be available.

If you are purchasing on behalf of others, please ensure you have the full information for each participant as you will be asked to fill out details on booking. Please note that each purchase counts towards your organisation's yearly allocation, and that spaces are not transferable to other courses or dates.

The booking price covers administrative fees and as such is non-refundable. In the event that you cannot attend, please provide the details of anyone attending in your place.

You must provide a shipping address for material, your ticket will otherwise be cancelled.

Cancellation & Refunds:

If you need to cancel your booking, please let us know as soon as possible. Bookings will be transferred or refunded within the following policy:

Less than 3 working notice: 100% of fee

4-10 working days notice: 50% of fee

11-15 working days notice: 25% of fee

Over 15 working days notice: no charge

Eventbrite booking fees and costs associated with funded places will not be refunded. We will aim to transfer your place where possible.

Notes regarding the session

-Please note that ticket sales stop at least two weeks before the start of the course date, so please book ahead of the course date, as materials need to be prepared to be sent to you.

-As material needs to be sent to you for this course, please doublecheck that you can receive the material to the address you provided for the day.

-If you have a ticket for the course, you will receive a link to the Zoom session a few days before the course, via email, so please doublecheck the email address you add when filling in your ticket. You should receive a confirmation email shortly after booking a ticket.

Please ensure you have Zoom installed and working ahead of the session. We are unable to issue refunds for those who are unable to attend due to technical difficulties.

If you do have a ticket and do not receive this link the Friday before, please contact us with the name of the course and the date and time of the session

-Finally, if it's applicable to you, an invoice will be sent after the completion of the course.
