This course is designed specifically for those individuals that teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 8-18 years and provides information, tools & techniques to promote a young person's mental & emotional wellbeing and guidance to support a young person who might be experiencing mental & emotional distress.

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence based intervention that can be delivered in a wide variety of settings, where first aid is given to an individual experiencing distress until appropriate help and treatment is received or the crisis resolves.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

• Feel confident helping a young person experiencing a problem and deal with a crisis situation or help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
• Provide help on a first-aid basis
• Help protect a young person who might be at risk of harm
