Event description

Description

Ealing Council’s health improvement team is excited to announce their 4th Health Improvement conference
for schools attended by over 130 headteachers, PSHE co-ordinators and senior leaders.

This year, we have chosen to focus on the theme of mental health and emotional wellbeing as we believe it is important to address the worrying statistic that three pupils in every class today have a diagnosed mental health problem, and in Ealing, 16% of 15 year olds report low life satisfaction, significantly worse than the UK average.

At this year’s conference inspiring speakers including Jonny Benjamin an award-winning mental health
campaigner, film producer, public speaker, writer and vlogger is co-presenting with Jac Bastian, Head of Education
from Diversity Role Models, Lauren Steele, Children & Young People's Eastern Regional Co-ordinator and Becky Batley, Children & Young People’s North East, Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Co-ordinator from Time to Change, Toni Medcalf, Director from Ealing Schools Counselling Partnership, Holly Chapman, PSHE Co-ordinator from Castlebar School and Amanda Aplicano, Inclusion Lead, SEMH from Primrose Hill Primary School LB Camden will provide tools to develop a whole school action plan to address pupils' mental health to ensure that resilience is embedded into school culture. The health improvement team are excited to launch ‘Ealing’s Got Talent’, an online competition to discover and promote KS1 -KS4 pupils currently enrolled in Ealing maintained, academies and independent schools who have a passion to perform using music, dance or drama. The reason for holding this competition is linked to our conference theme of mental health and emotional wellbeing, and that creative and performing arts can help the physical and mental wellbeing of many pupils, building confidence and allowing them to relax, whilst being inspired and challenged. The winners will be performing their creative pieces at the conference.

Light refreshments will be provided.

*Note: Priority given to the registration of Ealing and Hounslow schools*
