About this Event

Due to unprecedented circumstances, we have sadly had to postpone our conference until early 2021. Please continue to register your interest in the conference and we will be in touch nearer the time with a confirmed date.

Here's what we have lined up:

Mental health in prisons is a significant issue for tens of thousands of men and women. It is a largely hidden issue that left untreated blights the lives of our patients, their families and the communities they are released back into and it often contributes to them coming back into prison again and again.

As the largest provider of mental health services in UK prisons, Care UK, alongside its NHS partners, are committed to raising the profile of mental health and reducing the health inequalities of our patients who are often excluded from accessing mainstream services.

Join Care UK, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Inclusion (part of Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) for our first conference: “Collaboration for better mental health in prisons."

The conference is a unique opportunity to hear from all partners involved in the delivery of healthcare in prisons, including those with lived experience, interspersed with lively debates and Q&A opportunities.

We will host discussions on why collaboration is so important, the challenges of delivering mental health services in prisons, trauma-informed care, the challenges of working ‘through the gate’ and how we can best support staff within such complex environments to deliver effective support for mental health This is just an outline of some of the discussions we will be having at this conference.

The conference will also provide networking opportunities and foster debate among all participants. By attending you will help to develop a response to these complex and challenging issues, and improve our understanding of what services can do to improve.
