This is the 19th annual Mental Health Recovery Conference - an event coproduced by experts by experience, Carers, HPFT staff and provider partners in Hertfordshire. It is aimed at everyone with an interest in issues related to mental health - people with their own challenges, their carers, people working in mental health and members of the public too.
'Recovery' in this context is about the personal journey people make on their way to leading a meaningful and rewarding life despite their challenges. This is something that can happen alongside what mental health professionals call 'clinical recovery' - the treatment of the symptoms of conditions or disorders. Experts by experience (people who have had personal experience of mental health challenges), tells us that personal recovery is a deeply important process.
The conference this year is about connection and relationship, and the idea that where we make good connections we tend to make good recoveries. Everything that you will hear from speakers and workshop leaders at the conference this year will be jointly produced and developed by experts by experience, carers, and people working in mental health.
The conference has two main aims - to tell people about this important idea of Recovery, and to challenge us all to find ways of improving people's recoveries. We try to achieve this by involving people who know about Recovery from the inside out, and giving them a platform to share their experience.
Tickets are offered without charge and refreshments and a simple buffet lunch will be provided.
