AIM presents Mental Health and the Black Experience

About this Event

To mark Black History Month, AIM is using its platform to amplify the voices of Black experts, entrepreneurs and activists, as part of our commitment to help address and redress social inequalities and structural racism. In this panel discussion, mental health experts and music industry entrepreneurs will discuss their experiences with the intersection of mental health and ethnicity.

Speakers include recording artist and mental health activist Shocka and communications specialist Keri Perkins - the Founder of We Are Boogie Sounds and formerly head of PR for Nandos, as well as music journalist and host Sweeney Emanuel.

Shocka, Artist

Shocka is a recording artist and mental health activist preaching the importance of self-care for all.

Keri Perkins, Founder, We Are Boogie Sound

Keri has a unique specialism in corporate reputation and identifying how to make brands more meaningful in the eyes of their internal community as well as the consumer. She also works on how influencers can build brand reputation and help deliver on company purpose.

Before setting up her own comms consultancy, becoming a yoga teacher and launching We Are Boogie Sound (promoting yoga, music and diversity), Keri spent 12 years at Nando’s as Head of PR and later Group Head of PR comms. She also launched the notorious Black Card which was initially set up to support emerging creatives.

Most notably her passion for music lead her to create a global music initiatice partnering with Roundhouse, enlisting the support of leading industry talent to give world class mentorship and guidance to young musicians.
