Event description

Description

Teachers are incredibly busy people. We work hard in a profession which can be unforgiving and stressful. Yet we have chosen this career – or it has chosen us – and we need great teachers who want to stay in education. With more teachers leaving the profession after just a few years, we think it’s vitally important that we support our colleagues as best we can, which begs the question: how do you mentor someone effectively?

This twilight series is for:

  • Current mentors looking to share and improve their own practice
  • Colleagues interested in mentoring trainee teachers or NQTs
  • Colleagues interested in moving into middle leadership/line management

The three twilight sessions will cover:

  • The qualities needed to be a mentor and the benefits to you
  • Strategies for giving feedback and developing resilience in your mentee/junior colleagues
  • How to develop your mentee/junior colleagues as they gain experience
  • Difficult situations that may arise and how to navigate them
  • Examine and improve your current practice.

Key information:

  • The dates for these twilight sessions are: Monday 9 March; Monday 27 April; Monday 22 June
  • Location: Notre Dame High School, Norwich. Parking available onsite.
