Event description

Description

ReachOut is a mentoring charity working with children in disadvantaged communities to raise aspirations and help them grow in character and attainment.

We improve self-confidence and develop numeracy, literacy and communication whilst reinforcing our core values of fairness, self-control, good judgement and staying power.

We do this through one-to-one mentoring with positive role models and team activities to promote leadership, trust and responsibility.

As a Mentor you'll work with the same young person each week. You will spend the first hour working one-to-one in a classroom environment with other mentors and their mentees, supporting them with English and Maths activities chosen by the Project Leader. You will also have the opportunity to get involved with other activities designed to engage the young people and help them develop in character in the second hour of your session. The nature of the activities offered will depend on the project on which you are volunteering:

ReachOut Club – One-to-one and group mentoring for young people in primary school. Projects run on weekday afternoons, 3.30-5.30pm. Mentors stay for the duration.

ReachOut Academy – One-to-one academic mentoring for young people in secondary school. Projects run on weekday evenings, 6.00-8.00pm. Mentors stay for the first hour.

If this is something you're interested in and you are committed, enthusiastic and positive then fill in a short registration form using the link here and sign up to a training session here on Eventbrite.
