How to get there:

There is no public car parking on campus, there is some metered street parking around the area and a public carpark up at Victoria Park, but these do get busy.

The railway station is nearby, with buses running up to University Road or taxis.

A brief (30 minute) tour of the David Wilson Library is available after the meeting to those interested. It is about a 15 minute walk up the hill on the centre of campus, there are food outlets available there also https://www.le.ac.uk/maps/#library

Proposed agenda

The aim of the meeting is to review our first year of activity and plan for the future. The points below reflect the items we need to discuss but we would welcome additional agenda items (or contributions, suggestions, comments) from those who have already participated in one of our events or hope to attend in the future on, for example, how the group should progress.

Reflections and feedback:

1. Future of cataloguing

2. Jisc plan M contribution

3. E-forum and the platform

4. Overall impression of MMG so far

Membership to group and representation: There are members in the Jiscemail list who are not present on the MMG website. Gaz says: “I've not updated the 'Committee' website though, as I'm not sure how closely this now matches the membership of the list. For other groups (with the exception of the RDMSG) list/committee are one and the same.”

Do we want everyone listed who is on the email list, or a “core committee”?

Electing posts: Chair, Co-chair & Secretary plus Forum moderator – Will & Richard are happy to continue as co-chair but if you wish to volunteer for a post please let us know and we will investigate the procedure for deciding this (you can still volunteer even if you can’t attend the meeting).

Future Events:

1. RIMMF Jane-athon. Author George Eliot?

2. Training: Proposal by Sally Rimmer. MarcEdit/OpenRefine e.g. see: http://whelf.ac.uk/marcedit-openrefine-training-day/

Organiser

Mercian Metadata Group (MMG)

The Mercian Metadata Group is one of the Collaboration's special interest group, approved at the March 2019 Directors Board meeting. As the name suggests, the group members have a particular interest in around the creation and management of metadata. Like most of the other SIGs, membership is representational and largely self-selected by individuals within membership organisations. The interim joint-chairs are Richard Birley (BCU) and William Peaden (Aston), supported by Ed Kirkland (Warwick).
