Description
The Open University will be hosting a Mercury Transit Festival, giving members of the public an opportunity to view and find out more about the transit of Mercury alongside lots of science and space related activities. Open to all ages
Some of the activities include:
Virtual reality workshop - “Have you ever wondered what it would look if you were watching the Mercury transit in space? Using Virtual Reality headsets, we will show you incredible models of our Solar System and allow you to watch the Mercury transit as if you flying around the Sun.”
Physics of music workshop - “In space, no-one can hear you scream. Find out why this is in this hands on musical workshop where you will discover what sound is, how our ears pick up sound and how we turn noise into music.”
3D Space show - Into the Unknown - “Explore the most extreme environments in the Universe and the challenges mankind has faced in discovering what is beyond our home planet.”
There will also be talks on Mercury and the BepiColombo space mission.
